Natalie Beller Lyons, 83
NATALIE BELLER LYONS, 83, of Coral Gables, passed away May 25, 2009, in Miami, of cancer. A community activist her entire life, Natalie was devoted to her family's well being and her many friends. Her mother, Jennie, and her father, Herman Beller, settled in Havana in the 1920s and became leaders in community life. Natalie attended the University of Michigan and earned a BA degree. Natalie earned a master’s in education from the University of Miami. In 1967, she married Arthur J. Lyons, a Miami businessman whom she adored and shared life until his death in April 1986.
Natalie was National President of the American Technion Society's Women's Division for four years, past president of Miami Region of Hadassah, and held leadership positions in numerous other organizations. A former Peace Corps trainer, Natalie served as a Board Member of the Jewish Community Relations Board and the Miami Civic Music Association. She was a long-time volunteer for SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. Natalie is survived by her two daughters, Anne B. Freedman Fischer (Edward) and Sara Burns (Ken), and stepson, Scott Lyons (Carol), her brother Jacob Beller (Maxine), five grandchildren, and two great-grand children.
The funeral was held on May 27, 2009, at Riverside Gordon, Mount Nebo at Kendall.
