Donald Carlin

Donald Carlin passed away Nov. 11, 2009 at home after a brief illness. He was an ardent supporter of the performing and visual arts including the New Performing Art Center of Greater Miami; the Miami City Ballet; the Concert Association of Greater Miami, University of Miami and Barry University; serving on the boards of the Florida Grand Opera, the New World Symphony and the Miami Performing Art Center

Donald was the founder and chairman of the LEO (Law Enforcement Officers) Charitable Foundation and Don sponsors both the Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police Officer of the Month Award and the Officer of the Year Award. He served on the Advisory Board of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Donald was recognized as outstanding philanthropist of the year in 2000 by the National Society of Fund Raising. He received honorary degrees from Barry University and Miami Dade College.

Donald Carlin was the President and Co-Founder of Kahn-Carlin & Company, Inc. one of the largest and oldest independent insurance agencies in the south.

Donald is survived by his wife Audre; sister Ginger Smith of Lake Worth, Florida; and nephew Roy Fabry of Miami.

Funeral Services and Gathering will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 DeSoto Blvd, Coral Gables, Fl 33134 (305) 448-7421 Arrangements by Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels in Kendall.
