Super Art in the Park Super for Coral Gables
On Friday, January 29, 2010, the City of Coral Gables played host to Super Art in the Park in Ponce Circle Park. This free event was sanctioned and produced as part of Super Bowl XLIV’s Super Celebration Series, a first for the City of Coral Gables in the community’s hosting of nine previous Super Bowls. With the partnership and support of the Kiwanis of Little Havana Art & Music Foundation, City of Coral Gables, Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Coral Gables Business Improvement District, this event attracted nearly 5,000 visitors to the heart of our business community.
As one of the partners in this endeavor, I believe it is imperative to thank the leadership of Rodney Barreto, Chairman of the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee, as well as Michael Zimmer, President of the Host Committee, for the opportunity to host a Super Celebration Series event in the City Beautiful. From the first time we met with them more than a year ago to discuss the idea of hosting a high profile Super Bowl event in Coral Gables, they were extremely supportive of helping us make it happen.
I also want to thank the leadership of the Kiwanis of Little Havana who allowed us to join forces with their monthly Art in the Park concert to make it truly Super just in time for Super Bowl XLIV. By all accounts, the event was well received and attended and exceeded our expectations in terms of community impact. Our restaurants benefitted from the large crowd, the exposure we received was incredible, and the energy and buzz that were created was outstanding.
One thing I know for sure, by working together we created something special for two Super brands - Coral Gables and Super Bowl XLIV.
