Public Pool in the Gables?

It is a shame that there is currently a dearth of places where children and adults can go swimming or learn how to swim in the gables. For being such a wealthy community, we have no place to take our children other than Key Biscayne, the JCC in Kendall or A.D. Barnes park for these activities. The state of affairs at the Coral Gables Country Club in conjunction with the repair work being done on the Venetian Pool for the second year in a row has caused this situation to worsen. Water safety is a major concern in our community but is not being adequately addressed here. If these two venues are not available to the residents of our city maybe we should look to the Biltmore, as the citizens have no doubt subsidized their rent and the monies owed to the city. The Youth Center should organize some kind of program to this effect. I am sure that when this center first opened, there was a public pool available (other than the Venetian). For the safety of our citizens, this issue should concern us all.
