City of Coral Gables Mayor Don Slesnick recently visited Mrs. Núñez-Hernandez's International Baccalaureate 8th grade class. He was highly impressed with the extensive research the students have done in her class and in Ms. Bryan's class, and the relief efforts they have embraced since the earthquake hit the island nation of Haiti.

He has offered to extend the city of Coral Gables resources to assist Ponce de Leon Middle as they continue to help St. Hèléne Orphanage! You too can help Ponce de Leon Middle School's IB 8th Grade students collect essentials for the children at St. Hèléne.

They are collecting the following items which can be dropped off at the school until June 2nd : underwear, sandals, socks, hand sanitizer, toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, shampoo, tissues, batteries and baby wipes.
