GableStage will present Blasted, the controversial play by Sarah Kane, from Feb. 27 thru March 28. Blasted stars Todd Allen Durkin, Erik Fabregat and Betsy Graver and it is directed by Joseph Adler.

The play contains profanity, full frontal nudity, explicit sexual activity and very graphic violence. No one under 17 will be admitted.

When Blasted opened in London it introduced a new sensibility to the modern theatre and made front-page headlines with its depiction of rape, torture and mayhem during civil war.

Last season it finally reached New York, where it was produced off-Broadway to rave reviews, making the Top Ten lists of New York Times, New York Magazine, Time Magazine, Associated Press, Newsday and Time Out New York.

Although it has been produced worldwide, this is only the second professional production in the United States.

Despite the controversy which erupted when it premiered in 1995, the merits of the play were immediately detected by such notable playwrights as Harold Pinter, Caryl Churchill and Edward Bond.

The 2001 revival in England sparked a critical re-evaluation, and Blasted has since been hailed as a landmark play of post-war British theatre.
