Coral Gables Garden Club hosts Holiday Home and Garden Tour
This year’s Coral Gables Garden Club Holiday Home and Garden Tour was a great success. The 500 guests who attended enjoyed the opportunity to view the inside of five beautiful homes along Alhambra Court, Alhambra Circle and Sopera Avenue in Coral Gables.
Chairman Jana White and her co-chairman Charlotte Henderson chose Follow the Stars as the theme for this 37th annual event as large stars were positioned on stands designating each house on the tour.
Each of these homes was uniquely different with four of them having beautiful views overlooking the Biltmore Hotel Golf Course. In keeping with the early history of Coral Gables that was established in the mid-1920s, three of the tour destinations were built in the 1930s.
Thanks to the efforts of 16 creative designing members of the committee there were many comments on the stunning decorations in each of the homes.
One of the destinations featured a large group of tropical plants and baked items that were for sale.
At another residence attendees enjoyed refreshments and tea served by former presidents of the Garden Club. Adding to the memorable afternoon, performing pianists entertained at three of the homes.
The Holiday Home Tour Committee included Coral Gables Garden Club President Suzy Amerkan, Glenda Haley, Jeanette Slesnick, Martha Mensch, Judi Welsh, Damaris Gibb, Pat Clarke, Hinda Lawhorn, Jane Wilson, Gloria Zannis, Mary Frances Irvin, Judy Arthur and Blanche Brownell. Designers were Sharon Trbovich, Aimee Perez, Betsy Tilghman, Kay Murff, Maureen Graff, Sandy Milledge, Martha , Garlin Lewis, Suzy Amerkan, Mieko Kubota, Mercedes Forero, Bettye Roche, Mary Wurtzler, Judy Arthur, Donna Box and Carol Cope.
