Gables resident Donna Abood named to Hall of Fame at FSU College of Business
Donna Abood, a graduate of Florida State University’s College of Business, has been named to the business college’s Hall of Fame. Since 2003, the FSU College of Business has honored alumni who have excelled in their careers and made significant contributions.
Abood is chairman and founding partner of Colliers International South Florida, a global firm providing commercial real estate services. In her 28-year career, Abood has represented over 50 million square feet of office buildings on behalf of owners and she has completed hundreds of transactions on behalf of tenants she has represented.
Abood has been active with the FSU since graduating in 1981. As a director of the executive board of FSU’s Center for Real Estate Education & Research, Abood has participated in mentoring programs by inviting recent graduates to intern at Colliers International South Florida. Giving newcomers up-close exposure to the industry is one of the ways that she continues to shape South Florida’s commercial real estate community. She was responsible for creating the concept of FSU’s Annual South Florida Market Strategies, an invitation-only event that draws leaders in the real estate industry.
Abood has served on the programming committee since its inception. In the past, she has spoken at events held at FSU’s real estate program, consistently ranked among the top 10 real estate programs in the nation.
Widely recognized for her accomplishments, Abood’s recent honors include being named an Ultimate CEO, Top 10 Women in Florida Commercial Real Estate, and one of the South Florida Business Journal’s Most Influential Business Women; National Woman of Influence by Real Estate Forum, and 2006 Business Woman of the Year by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce.
She is a member of the executive committee of The Beacon Council of Miami-Dade County and a past director of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables and Commercial Real Estate Women of Miami. Abood lives in Coral Gables with her daughter, Kristy.
