UPDATE: The Miami Hurricanes routed Boston College 72-50 in men’s basketball Tuesday night at the BankUnited Center to move to 9-0 in ACC play, 18-3 overall

The University of Miami men’s basketball team continues to climb its way up the national polls, earning No. 8 in the latest edition of the Associated Press poll and No. 11 in the USA TODAY rankings.

The No. 8 ranking in the AP poll ties Miami’s highest ranking ever, when the Canes were No. 8 on March 1, 1960. In the USA TODAY poll, Miami is one spot short of its highest ranking, which came on March 1, 1999. Last week UM was No. 14 in the AP poll and 15 in USA TODAY.

Miami notched two more wins recently — 73-64 against Virginia Tech on Jan. 30 and 79-78 over N.C. State on Feb. 2 — to improve to 8-0 in the ACC and 17-3 overall.

The Canes’ nine-game winning streak is on the line Tuesday night, Feb. 5, as they face off against Boston College at 7 p.m. in the BankUnited Center. Get tickets at CanesTix.com or by calling 305-284-2263.

“I think it’s great for our fans and our students to read and hear more about us,” said Coach Jim Larranaga. “Hopefully that will sell more tickets and we’ll have a great crowd for the game Tuesday against Boston College.”
