Best works from local galleries under one roof at Gables Museum
The Coral Gables Museum recently opened a first-of-its-kind exhibition featuring the best works from 11 local galleries.
Titled “New Art for the New Year,” the exhibition debuted with an opening reception attended by some 350 guests on Wednesday evening, Jan. 30. The collection is on view one week only, through Thursday, Feb. 7, at the museum, 285 Aragon Ave.
The show was curated by art veteran and appraiser Denise Gerson, former associate director of the University of Miami’s Lowe Art Museum.
“I was thrilled to be invited to work on this exhibition,” said Ms. Gerson, who joined gallery owners, artists and other art lovers at the opening reception. “Art is for everyone, and the Coral Gables’ art scene has set itself apart by enduring the test of time, and by offering local and international enthusiasts an unparalleled level of exciting new artwork, knowledge, and experience.”
The show features a variety of Latin American, Cuban, European and American paintings, mixed-media and sculptures from the following venues:
• ArtSight Gallery
• ArtSpace Virginia Miller
• The Americas Collection
• Ca’ D’Oro Gallery
• Casa Turquesa
• Cernuda Fine Art Gallery
• Collage Gallery – Fundacion Artistas Unidos
• H. Benitez Fine Art Gallery
• Jorge M. Sori Fine Art
• JSK Architectural Group
• Klara Chavarria Contemporary Art
The exhibition is presented with the support of the city of Coral Gables, the Coral Gables Museum, VSBROOKS Advertising and Tarpon Bend.
