Warm up support for Gables Cinema at ‘Some Like It Hotter!’ gala
The Coral Gables Art Cinema’s second annual red-carpet fundraiser “Some Like It Hotter!” takes place on Saturday, Jan. 19, starting at 7 p.m., at the Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave., across the street from the theater.
Hosted by CBS4 anchor Shannon Hori, the event will feature delicious food from Thierry’s Catering; an open bar courtesy of Bacardi; live music by Paul Posnak, Anita Castiglione and Louis Amanti; a silent auction; and other surprises. Tickets are $150 each.
The goal of the evening is to raise funds so this non-profit organization can continue its work as the leading first-run art cinema and film arts center in South Florida, according to event organizers.
The Coral Gables Art Cinema, 260 Aragon Ave., exhibits independent, alternative and international films, offering first-run, seven-day-a-week showcase presentations in both 35mm and true industry-standard theater quality digital projection. The cinema also presents special events for families and children, film festivals and educational activities.
“The Miami art scene has seen tremendous growth in the last decade and the cinema has been a prime example of this,” said Steven Krams, founder and president of the board of the Coral Gables Art Cinema. “We are clearly filling a need in the community for the kind of thought-provoking, artistically daring films we screen, and the community has supported us as we have expanded our work.”
Organizers expect “Some Like It Hotter!” to attract over 200 guests who will come together in support of the film programming and educational activities of the Gables Cinema.
“‘Some Like It Hotter!’ will be a fun-filled evening that will kick off our third year with just the right touch of levity and serious art,” said Maritza Jacobson, board member and event chair of the Coral Gables Art Cinema.
Tickets at $150 each are available on www.gablescinema.com or by calling 786-472-2249.
