Lunchtime jazz series returns to Gables Museum Plaza Jan. 16
Opening its third season, the weekly Jazz in the Gables series returns to the plaza of the Coral Gables Museum on Wednesday, Jan. 16, and will continue through late March with an all-star lineup to entertain lunchtime crowds.
First up in the 2013 edition will be Grammy-winning saxophonist, composer and arranger Felipe Lamoglia, who along with his internationally recognized ensemble will bring the rhythms of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian jazz fusion to downtown Gables.
“The city is pleased to be bringing back Jazz in the Gables to residents and professionals. This free music event and the chance to hear a different talented jazz performer each week continues to gain popularity and is a great way to support the local art scene,” said Mayor Jim Cason.
Performances will continue with a different artist every Wednesday through March 27 starting at 12:15 p.m. on the museum plaza, located on Salzedo Street two blocks north of Miracle Mile. Patrons can bring their own lunch or purchase a box lunch onsite from Catering by Lovables.
Jazz in the Gables is a collaboration of the city of Coral Gables, the Coral Gables Museum, the Business Improvement District, the Miami Jazz Coop and civic sponsor Vizcaino, Gitlin & Zomerfeld, LLP.
