GableStage presents the American premiere of a 90-minute, high-energy version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, one of the most powerful and important tragedies in the English language.

Playing Jan. 12 through Feb. 10 at GableStage, this version has been adapted for London’s Royal Shakespeare Company by Miami’s own award-winning playwright, Tarell Alvin McCraney, who is also directing, and Bijan Shebani.

Major funding for this production has been provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.

After the run at GableStage, there will be free performances of Hamlet for thousands of Miami-Dade County Public School students at two other venues: the Joseph Caleb Auditorium in Liberty City and the South Miami-Dade Arts & Cultural Center in Cutler Bay.

The cast includes Alana Arenas, Mimi Davila, Ryan George, Peter Haig, Arielle Hoffman, Dylan Kammerer, James Samuel Randolph, Laura H. Dilorenzo, Michael Napoles, Alfredo Ramirez and Edgar Miguel Sanchez as Hamlet.
