The city of Coral Gables and the Coral Gables Merrick House Governing Board held a festive holiday party on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 8, at the historic home of city founder George Merrick.

Guests at the free open house and party enjoyed caroling, a visit from Santa, refreshments, face painting and other activities.

Members of the Coral Gables Garden Club adorned the Merrick House with spectacular floral decorations, a tradition they have kept for many years. The Garden Club brings a team of decorators every year to the house at the start of December, and with their own resources, they trim the house for the season.

Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Merrick House, 907 Coral Way, exists today much as it did in the 1920s and is filled with the Merrick family’s artwork, photographs, furniture, and personal treasures.
