Costumed crowd enjoys 15th annual Halloween on the Mile
Children, adults and even costumed canines visited downtown Coral Gables Wednesday evening, Oct. 31, for the 15th annual Halloween on the Mile celebration.
In addition to trick-or-treating along Miracle Mile and adjacent streets, the event included story time and children’s activities, including a kiddie costume contest at the Miracle Theatre. Winners were:
1st prize – Marcus Mantecon, 5 years old (dressed as a fun light-up robot)
2nd prize – Anastasia Herrell, 8 years old (dressed as Pippi Longstocking)
3rd prize – Gabriel Correa, 9 years old (dressed as Dr. Who)
There was a doggie costume contest at the Coral Gables Museum, too. Those winners:
1st prize – Diana Alfonso with Vera in pumpkin costume
2nd prize – Nery Segarra with Minnie in pirate costume
3rd prize – Jorge Velazquez with Frankie the Fire Chief
The fun was hardly over when Halloween on the Mile ended at 7 p.m. Later that night, JohnMartin’s Irish Pub & Restaurant welcomed a costumed crowd for its annual Halloween party, which featured drink specials, a costume contest and live music by Deck 52.
