Guests savor Peruvian culture, food at ‘Sabor de Peru’
The Miami All Stars, a nonprofit that serves underprivileged kids through sports and academics, recently presented “Sabor de Peru,” a celebration of Peruvian cuisine, culture, music and art, at the Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave.
Part of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Oct. 16 event also featured an exhibit of Latin artists’ works, a multimedia presentation of historic sites, including Machu Picchu and the Nazca lines, and a VIP reception with Peruvian diplomats and other dignitaries.
A portion of the proceeds went to the Miami All Stars, which conducts programs in basketball, nutrition, fitness and academics. It emphasizes respect, leadership, sportsmanship, self-esteem and positive mental attitude among the youths it serves.
