Gables Hispanic Foundation unveils 2012 festival poster
With the Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival coming up soon, members of the Gables Hispanic Cultural Foundation, the Soriano Foundation and many guests celebrated the festival poster debut Friday night, Sept. 28, at the Coral Gables Museum.
Patrons enjoyed a Bacardi bar, Pardo’s Peruvian Cuisine, a special performance by the Conchita Espinosa Academy Choir and more. Highlighting the well-attended event was the unveiling of the festival poster, titled Armonia Serena, by Cuban-born master artist Rafael Soriano.
Since his first exhibition in 1947 in Havana’s Lyceum and Lawn Tennis Club, Mr. Soriano’s work has been represented in numerous individual exhibitions and close to 200 collective shows.
His paintings have traveled throughout the world to such countries as the United States, Brazil, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Chile, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico and Italy, among others. Currently his work is included in numerous private and public collections.
The third annual Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival will be Oct. 20-21 along Biltmore Way in downtown Coral Gables.
Part of Hispanic Heritage Month, the festival is comprised of local area artists, Hispanic & Latin American cultural exhibitions and musical and folkloric dance presentations.
