Gulliver receives prestigious Heart of Haiti Award
Haitian President of Parliament Simon Dieuseul Desras recently presented students at Gulliver Preparatory School with the Heart of Haiti Award, which is given only to 11 recipients worldwide each year.
Mr. Claude Charron and his engineering students were honored with the award on Sept. 6 recognition for the development of a water purification system, LiTres, which has assisted the victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
Alexis Wong ‘12, Jonathan Wilson ‘13, Ian Chang ‘13 and Laura Vargas ‘13 demonstrated the enhanced liquid filtration system and discussed the impact and marketability of the system to Parliamentary President Desras, along with five members of the Haitian Chamber of Deputies.
President Desras expressed his admiration and gratitude to the students for their ingenuity, perseverance in developing a system that is not only a benefit to the citizens of Haiti but which will also have a positive global impact.
He invited Gulliver students to visit Haiti and present the LiTres system personally.
Following the presentation, the dignitaries also visited Gulliver’s law & litigation and biomedical students.
