Mommy and me: Stroller Strides, Baby Boot Camp let mommies get fit with baby
As Merideth Hood sits with her legs extended, pulling on a resistance band anchored behind her flexed feet, her 9-month-old daughter Genevieve crawls on her mother’s lap.
Next to them, 22-month-old Sophia, clad in a pink flowered dress, clumsily mimics as mom Carli Hoppe hops side-to-side in football shuffle.
And across from them, 6-month-old Paola lies on a pink blanket propped up on her arms as mother Gabriela De La Iglesia does a series of planks.
The women are part of a growing exercise trend: mommies burning a sweat with babies — and even older kids – in tow.
Throughout South Florida, mommy-and-me fitness classes have been springing up: Local franchises of national organizations like Baby Boot Camp and Stroller Strides, homegrown fitness groups like BabyWeight and dance classes such as those at Le Petit Studio in North Miami.
