Coral Gables shoppers joined the iPhone 5 frenzy Friday, Sept. 21, lining up before dawn to buy the latest Mac technology.

Jennifer Betancourt, for example, arrived at 5 a.m. at the Verizon Wireless store on the corner of Alhambra Circle and Ponce de Leon Boulevard. She was first in line to switch out her current phone for the new iPhone 5.  She lives nearby, so it was an easy location for her to visit.

More than 40 people were in line at 7:45 a.m., and the Verizon team was busy preparing to help each customer. Manager Robert Medina was taking customer information and preparing orders before 8 a.m.

A long line also formed at the AT&T store on Miracle mile, as Gables shoppers tried to get their hands on the latest technology.
