Club Monaco Gala

Preview party of the upcoming gala will be Sept. 13 Crave.

The Coral Gables Community Foundation will throw a kickoff party on Thursday evening, Sept. 13, at Crave restaurant to begin the countdown to its 21st anniversary fundraising gala, this year featuring a “Club Monaco” theme, and to introduce this year’s honorees.

“The Coral Gables Community Foundation is excited to once again partner with Crave as it hosts the kickoff for our gala,” said Andria Hanley, executive director of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. “Come try your luck at cards, enjoy time with friends of the foundation, and support our signature event.”

Featuring an open bar sponsored by Bacardi U.S.A., hors d’oeuvres, an elegant dinner, dancing and an array of casino-style festivities, the Club Monaco Gala will be Saturday, Oct. 13, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Coral Gables Country Club, 997 N. Greenway Dr.

The Sept. 13 event at Crave, 4250 Salzedo St., 6-8 p.m., will offer a spirited preview of the gala while presenting the foundation’s honorees:

• Willy Bermello Legacy Award: Robert J. “Bob” Fewell, for his generous contributions to the Coral Gables community, including $2 million to the Coral Gables Museum.

•  Community Award: Wayne E. “Chip” Withers, for his 20 years of service as a city commissioner and piloting the formation of the Coral Gables Museum.

•  Culture Award: Steven “Steve” H. Krams, for spreading artistry throughout Coral Gables and allowing it to flourish via the Coral Gables Art Cinema.

•  Education Award: Dr. Joyce J. Elam, for her impact on community education after serving as executive dean of Florida International University’s College of Business for 15 years.

•  Sports/Entertainment Award (posthumous): Paul T. Dee, J.D., (being accepted by Cathy Zuckerman Dee), for his impact on and involvement in the athletic community as University of Miami athletic director and general counsel.

“It is through the generosity of the Gables community that we can support causes such as education, art, culture and green space. We hope you can join us,” said Ms. Hanley.
