Guests take an exercise class at the inaugural Senior Health Fair in 2010.

The city of Coral Gables and Doctors Hospital are joining to sponsor the third annual Senior Health Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the War Memorial Youth Center, 405 University Dr.

All Coral Gables seniors are invited to meet medical professionals, attend lectures and undergo screenings for osteoporosis, blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol and body mass index.

Dietitian Zulema Iznaga will talk about the importance of fiber at 10:30 a.m.; orthopedic surgeon Alexander van der Ven, M.D., will lecture on joint pain at 11:30 a.m.; and urologist Fernando Bianco, M.D., will discuss prostate and urinary health for men and women at 12:30 p.m.

Participants also can enjoy chair massages, Tai Chi exercise and lunch, while it lasts.

The Senior Health Fair is free and open to the public. There will be free valet parking at the Youth Center.
