Stephen Morris expected to start in Miami Hurricanes’ opener
Judging by the newest depth chart released Monday night, the University of Miami’s starting quarterback Sept. 1 against Boston College will be Stephen Morris.
Morris, a junior, was listed as the No. 1 quarterback without an “OR’’ between his name and that of redshirt sophomore Ryan Williams, who appears to be the new backup after running the scout-team offense in 2011 as a transfer from Memphis.
In the pre-fall camp depth chart, the quarterbacks had the “OR’’ between their names.
Over the past two seasons, Morris has thrown for 1,523 yards, seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions – nine of those during his freshman season, when he started four games.
Morris missed spring practice this year after undergoing postseason back surgery, but according to coaches, has come back even stronger.
